The American Red Cross Internship program is a program of the Capital Area Chapter. Our goal is to promote awareness of the Red Cross, preparedness among youth and young adults, volunteerism and provide hands-on relevant experience to those interested in professional development and recruit experienced and driven students to work in all sectors of the Red Cross.

The Intern program works to provide educational opportunities for students and services to the universities; as well as the community, in the following areas:

  • Emergency Services (Disaster Action Teams, ERV Crew, Client Casework, military family crisis intervention, etc.)

  • Youth Services (Educating the K-12 youth in the community in areas

These services will be provided in a manner that is consistent with the mission of the American Red Cross and the fundamental principles of the International Red Cross Movement: Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity and Universality.

Summer Kid’s Day at the Red Cross

The Summer Kids’ Day program is a free day camp offered at the Capital Area Chapter location during June and July 2011. The program is extended to age groups 5-14 and we offer tailor-made workshops to fit the learning needs of your child!

The program is implemented entirely by volunteers and Red Cross interns that are trained to teach the workshops offered during each camp day. Students will experience several ways of learning through hands-on activities, interactive videos, and group discussions.
