The Capital Area Chapter of the American Red Cross is a humanitarian organization led by volunteers and guided by its Congressional Charter and the Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross Movement to provide relief to victims of disaster and help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.
As part of the Red Cross mission, the Capital Area Chapter develops and maintains local disaster plans and identifies adequate resources to ensure human needs within the Big Bend community (Franklin, Liberty, Gadsden, Wakulla, Leon, Jefferson, Madison and Taylor Counties) are appropriately met. Throughout the year the Capital Area Chapter conducts numerous disaster training courses and planning and preparedness exercises as part of that mission.
