Hurricane Biz Florida Initiative
With funding from the Capital Area Chapter of the American Red Cross and the State of Florida Division of Emergency Management, Florida's American Red Cross chapters had the opportunity to receive grant funding to facilitate Hurricane Biz Exercises within their chapter's jurisdiction.
The Hurricane Biz Florida Initiative provided the following resources to chapter's willing to facilitate Hurricane Biz Exercises within their chapter's jurisdiction.

Hurricane Biz Florida Initiative - Grant Application
In an effort to streamline the process of applying for grant funds to facilitate Hurricane Biz Exercises in your chapter's jurisdiction, the Capital Area Chapter prepared a very simple on-line grant application.
Once the application had been approved the chapter was contacted VIA phone.

Hurricane Biz Florida Initiative - Overview
What follows is an overview of how the Hurricane Biz Exercise targeted the business community with a powerful learning opportunity designed to prepare the workplace for the next disaster.
Exercise - Mission
This four hour tabletop exercise was designed to provide business leaders and company employees with an opportunity to learn the importance of working together when disaster strikes. Participants worked within their workplace group as they undertook coordination of activities such as business planning and preparedness, threat assessment, needs assessment and continuity of operations.

Businesses participating in the exercise were asked to recruit a minimum of two employees to represent their entire organization.
During the exercise participants were required to call various fellow employees and vendors to discuss action items that should be taken as the workplace plans and prepares for, responds to and recovers from Hurricane Biz, so participants were required to bring a cell phone and important phone numbers.
